Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage

Yes, I took the cover off because it was getting in my way. Anyways, thanks to my friend, Quan, he let me borrow his copy of Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage. As again, with the other Haruki Murakami book, 1Q84, I didn't know what I was getting myself into. However, I really liked this book and did not like it in some parts.

I don't know if other readers feel the same but I really connected with Tsukuri Tazaki, the main character of the book. I, too, have felt the abandonment of friends walking in and out of my life. I, too, went into a depression. I, too, feel colorless, reflecting about what I can offer to people in my life. I still am in that phase of figuring myself out, so props to you Tsukuri for confronting the truth and figuring it out :)

However, I did not like the love triangles. Maybe it's because I've seen too much of that going on in Asian dramas or in the media. I'm always tired of those but hey, they do exist.

Overall, I really liked this book because it was something that touched home for me. Thanks, Haruki Murakami for writing this book. Although, the ending could've been more stronger. He was really great in simple descriptions such as the train stations, railroad routes or the meals he had... It was like I was there and in touch the Tokyo's urbanism.
